About Dr. Schmidt

  Kristiane S. Schmidt, DVM, Diplomate, ACVO

Dr. Schmidt received her Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Medicine from the University of California at Davis. She subsequently received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California at Davis in 1997. She received Board Certification in Veterinary Ophthalmology and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (ACVO) in 2005.

During her Internship in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at Santa Cruz Veterinary Hospital under the direction of Kelly Akol, DVM, DACVIM, Dr. Schmidt rotated through the veterinary specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, oncology, ophthalmology, radiology, and dentistry.

After successful completion of the Internship in 1998, Dr. Schmidt worked for two years as an Emergency Veterinarian while working closely with two Veterinary Ophthalmologists, Dennis Hacker, DVM, DACVO and Lana Linton, DVM, DACVO. In 2000, Dr. Schmidt began her formal training in Comparative Veterinary Ophthalmology and received her Residency Certificate from Animal Eye Specialists in El Cerrito, California under the direction of Dr. Dennis Hacker in 2003. During her Residency, Dr. Schmidt completed the credentials requirements set forth by the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists, managed surgical and medical ophthalmic diseases in small animals at the Animal Eye Specialists, exotic animals at the Oakland Zoo, and large animals at the University of California at Davis. She looks forward to serving the community for many years.
